Fruits and vegetables were the principal food choice for the Greeks. Some followers of Pythagoras were also vegetarians. There were no tomatoes, potatoes, papers and corns among the vegetables which was produced and consumed by ancient Greeks. However, there were cucumbers, artichokes, peas, pumpkins, cabbages, asparagus, mushrooms, beets, etc. Among the dominating fruits were the pear, plum, cherry, orange, apricot, arbutus berries, quince, grapes and figs.
